I don't read a lot anymore for a few reasons.   1)  New literature bores me.  I like a good read with full bodied descriptions, deep characters and educated verbiage.  In my opinion, too much of popular fiction is stale, flat and written for a 7th grader.  Being impatient, I'll give up the book before suffering through its entirety. 2)  If I do find a good read, I can't put it down.  I'll eat up every moment of my free time and get no sleep and ignore my family to finish the book.  Wow, where is my self control?  I've just finished Susan Heyboer O'Keefe's adult novel, Frankenstein's Monster , which fit all too nicely into category #2.  I could not put the book down. To continue where Mary Shelley left off and capture the essence of the time and characters in such a way, to me, is amazingly well done. Sorry all, this one is for locals only.  Lucky locals!! A lot of Mommy Bloggers have babies, infants and young school-age children.  I have teenagers.  Moody, trying to find their way and place in life; teenagers. I wholeheartedly believe that part of the key to happiness in teenagers is involvement.  Schools, communities, churches and civic organizations all have programs to keep teens active and involved and give them a sense of belonging.  My children are involved in church groups, school student council, school band and many school clubs.  We are also a big 4-H family.   Many people associate 4-H with farms, horses and animals.  There is so much more to 4-H than agriculture!  I've never lived on a farm or raised animals.  My children are involved with many 4-H leadership and development programs.  This weekend they attended a Winter Retreat at Sundance.  They got to go cross country skiing, snowshoeing, attend workshops and a dance and play games and socialize with their teen...

Lately my daughter has been obsessed with Photoshop and finding brushes. Her passion has sparked up a want in me to do some digital scrapbooking or some hybrid scrapbooking. My kitchen is very boring. The home we live in is, in part, nearly 100 years old but not in a cool architecturally designed 100 years old. It's more of a small square built to function 100 years old. However, there are small bits of charm. We have new wood floors and an arch that leads into the small dining space. I'd really like to play up the small bits of charm to detract from the basic builder grade cabinets and plain laminate counter tops. I've been looking for a black? chandelier to hang above my table. This is proving to be a somewhat hard task since I need one that has a plug and can swag versus a hardwired one. An alternative would be a decorative piece that looks like a chandelier but is not electrical; some hold candles. One of the biggest problem spots, in my opinion, is the space above the stove/range.
