I know, I know.... it's only August and school hasn't even begun yet. But Halloween is coming!! When you love Halloween as much as we do, you can't help but get excited.  The other day I decided to play with glitter paper. What could be better than glitter AND Halloween? This project is much easier than it appears. If you can paint, trace a shape, cut and glue, you're set. It really is that easy to make a totally unique one of a kind item for your decor. My kitchen is very boring. The home we live in is, in part, nearly 100 years old but not in a cool architecturally designed 100 years old. It's more of a small square built to function 100 years old. However, there are small bits of charm. We have new wood floors and an arch that leads into the small dining space. I'd really like to play up the small bits of charm to detract from the basic builder grade cabinets and plain laminate counter tops. I've been looking for a black? chandelier to hang above my table. This is proving to be a somewhat hard task since I need one that has a plug and can swag versus a hardwired one. An alternative would be a decorative piece that looks like a chandelier but is not electrical; some hold candles. One of the biggest problem spots, in my opinion, is the space above the stove/range. We don't have a hood or a mounted microwave so it's just a big empty space. Lately I've been thinking that some decorative shelves that can...

NOW CLOSED, thanks for entering!! Winter has arrived with a vengeance here! Along with the snow and cold outside are the wonderful things that get tracked indoors. Can you hear the sarcasm? I can nearly hear my poor floors screaming every time my husband drags in ice melt pellets, wet snow and mud. We have tile floors, wood laminate floors and also carpeting. Each one of my flooring types have rugs to help protect them... and as a bonus, rugs are just plain fun! We jokingly call the big 8x5 rug in the living room the "messy mat" because it catches all my husband's crumbs.
