Plaque, Plaque, Go Away!

...And Giveaway!

If you're like me, you've been curious about all the probiotics available on the market today.  What is a probiotic?  What does it do?  Is it beneficial?  Should children use probiotics?  Are there any risks associated with probiotic use?

We were beyond thrilled when TheraBreath contacted us about reviewing their brand new Multi Symptom Probiotics!  Maybe now we can learn what this probiotic thing is all about.

Within our bodies we have good bacteria and bad bacteria.  Most of the time there is a balance and the good bacteria (which are necessary for good health!) are winning.  If the bad bacteria take the upper hand, however, we tend to get sick.

TheraBreath has developed the first probiotic strains used specifically for oral health.  These probiotic strains, S. salivarius K12 and M18, help the body to resist and possibly prevent things like ear aches, sore throats, cavities, gum sensitivity, the formation of biofilm, plaque, tooth stains and bad breath.  Take all the scientific mumbo-jumbo out of it and immediately I am interested in the possibly of preventing cavities.  My teen daughter has had a serious problem with plaque and cavities ever since she first got braces.  If this product helps in any way, I am sold!  Plus, I am sure that our dental insurance carrier will be grateful!

TheraBreath Multi Symptom Probiotic comes in a kit which is used over a 7-day period and should be repeated every 1-2 months.  The probiotic comes in little stick packs which you dissolve in water and use as a mouth rinse after brushing your teeth with the included TheraBreath toothpaste.  Everything is clearly labeled on the kit so you won't get confused as to which day of the program you are currently using.  We have found the flavor of the probiotic to be lemony and quite pleasant.  After 4 days of use, my daughter clearly noticed a difference in the formation of plaque on her teeth, yay!  Less plaque?  Ka-pow!!  Must mean less chance of cavities!!  It is also safe for use by young children who can rinse and gargle, as well as there are no known significant side effects.

You can purchase the probiotic at Walgreen's or online at TheraBreath and it should be widely available at most major drug stores this Fall. Run over to TheraBreath for more information plus they have coupons you can print too!

The fantastic people at TheraBreath would like to offer one lucky reader a box of their Mouth Wetting Lozenges.  These things are truly amazing!  My children love them and they really work.  You can read all about them in our previous TheraBreath review as well as learn to do some fun toothpaste art!

I have used probiotics to regulate my digestive system. I always take them when I have had to take an antibiotic. I like the kind with multiple types of strains but I'm not sure what it's called. Therabreath sounds like a good idea for dental and mouth health.

Without going into too much detail, my mother is having intestinal issues as a result of cancer treatment--besides other medications, her doctor is helping to treat the problem with probiotics.

My experience with probiotics are from eating Activia yoguart. It is supposed to regulate your digestive system and it seems to have done that for me. I would like to try these instead of masking bad breath by mints.

I have never used probiotics, but a friend of mine told me that when you have a thyroid condition it is important to use probiotics. I know one thing, I could use something for breath, because the meds I take do damage. I am constantly taking care of dry mouth.

Fantastic Modern Rugs from AllModern.com and a $25 Giveaway

NOW CLOSED, thanks for entering!! Winter has arrived with a vengeance here! Along with the snow and cold outside are the wonderful things that get tracked indoors. Can you hear the sarcasm? I can nearly hear my poor floors screaming every time my husband drags in ice melt pellets, wet snow and mud. We have tile floors, wood laminate floors and also carpeting. Each one of my flooring types have rugs to help protect them... and as a bonus, rugs are just plain fun! We jokingly call the big 8x5 rug in the living room the "messy mat" because it catches all my husband's crumbs. Now is a great time to invest in new and modern rugs from AllM odern.com (part of the CSN Stores network) as it's an inexpensive way to change the entire feel of your home. What better time to change the look in your home than the dreary wintertime! It's like a mood pick-up for your home and family. I could really use some new runners and this one is beautiful: However, I like

Endo Review and Giveaway!

We're so excited to introduce you to Endo ! Endo is here for all your outdoor t-shirt needs with incredible graphic designs to wear.  Cyclist?  Camper?  They're here for us all.  Seriously, what's better than a bright yellow tee with a huge tricycle on it?  Yes, a huge yellow real tricycle would be nice but hey, you couldn't wear that and it would undoubtedly be much harder to come by! We were happy to discover that the Endo t-shirt is longer than some which is definitely a bonus.  You know, no risk of the bad "low rise jeans - shorter tee - don't bend over or sit" dilemma.  It's also pretty dang soft and comfy. In addition to this great t-shirt, Endo also sent their logo tote bag.  These kind of backpack tote bags, or "man bags" as all the local teens call them (because all the boys in junior high have them!) are perfect for a light backpack to carry a water bottle, camera, cell phone, snacks, etc., for an impromptu hike, nature walk

Sit-upon Tutorial By Rachel Beyer

As a former Girl Scout, I have lots of fun camp memories. I remember learning to tie knots, set up camp and to cook over the campfire. An essential Girl Scout tradition is making a sit-upon. A sit-upon is a homemade waterproof cushion. They are easy to make and I remember using them every time we did any activity while sitting on the bare ground, which most often was damp or scattered with uncomfortable sticks and pebbles. A sit-upon is great for sitting around the campfire, your backyard, or even a sporting event.  There are lots of ways to make a sit-upon. When I was a Brownie Girl Scout, we made ours from old vinyl tablecloths and foam. But in a pinch, you can use a plastic garbage bag and a stack of old newspapers for padding. To revisit this simple craft project, I decided to use a roll of vintage vinyl wallpaper I found at a thrift store and some foam I bought at my local craft store. Essential Supplies: Waterproof Material (vinyl tablecloth, or other store-bought vinyl or
