This post is part of Endless Summer at Artsy Chaos, happening only during September!
This is where Thompson's WaterSeal enters the picture to provide homeowners with "deck protection" from water damage. We certainly don't want water damage. We want Thompson's WaterSeal. And since Thompson's has been protecting the world's treasures since 1929, like the Parthenon, they certainly are trusted with our outdoor wood fixtures. Lucky for us, Thompson's let us try out their Oxy Foaming Action Exterior Multi-Surface Cleaner and Waterproofer in Sheer Natural Cedar.

Our yard has a mixture of fence with one large section of wood which has never been protected. We chose to use the waterproofer on the wood fence instead of a deck, but the concept/principles are the same. Here are some before pictures:
We were surprised at the thick consistency of the WaterSeal with the tint and the vibrancy of the color. It is such a change from the bare wood we're afraid it might be too bright. What do you think? Here are the great after pictures:
We were also thrilled to try the Oxy outdoor cleaner which can be used on a multitude of outdoor surfaces like wood, masonry, concrete, composite, brick, stucco, and outdoor furniture. It works fabulously to clean up and make your outdoor surfaces look almost new! I love that it can be used on outdoor furniture which gets so dirty when it rains. It can even be used on some outdoor fabrics.
Key Features of the Oxy Cleaner:
- Oxygenated Foaming Action
- Removes Stains From Dirt, Mildew, Algae and Fungus
- Non-Bleach, Chlorine-Free Concentrate
- Gentler* Biodegradable Cleaner
*Compared to a Chlorine Bleach Based Formula.

If I win, I'll donate it to either my daughter's school, for their pergola and fence, or to the non-profit (pay what you can) cafe right by our house for their deck and fence.

I would choose Thompson's WaterSeal® Waterproofer Plus Tinted Wood Protector. It does everything I want in one step. I would use it on the deck entrance in front of my apartment. It is so dingy looking.
