Dorm Trunks and C&N Footlockers

This is an exclusive review and sneak peek for the upcoming Back to School Giveaway Hop next week!  Be sure to check out the bonus at the end of this post.

Please let us introduce you to!!

If you have a tween or teen, a good solid footlocker is a blessing for many reasons.  Where do you attractively store all those video games and books?  Maybe your kids head off to summer camp every year with less than perfect solutions for their belongings.  Perhaps they're getting ready for college and need someplace safe to stash their valuables and electronics.  This is exactly what happened to us a few years ago.

Our oldest son was headed to college and wanted to take all of his expensive electronics with him.  I was less than thrilled.  After searching the web for solutions, we found C&N Footlockers and were intrigued.  Not only was the footlocker built to last and a billion times more solid than anything like it you could find locally, it provides extra seating.  Bonus!!  We purchased our son a Companion Footlocker in black with an Anchoring Cable so it could be locked and secured to his bed at his college apartment.  Today, he is married and uses the footlocker for blankets in his home and it's lovely.  It will certainly last the test of time and his children will be able to use that footlocker.

We were sent the Happy Camper Footlocker in Light Blue to review.  Let me tell you, it does not disappoint!  All the footlockers at are built with 3/8" solid aspen plywood.  Yes, wood!  Not some thick cardboard or paper board product.  The outside is steel with a scratch-resistant baked enamel finish.  Can you believe it?  Steel and wood.  Honestly, this thing is one sturdy puppy.

The color is consistently the same and not darker on top.  Silly shadows!

Additional features include:
  • Water Resistant and Tear Proof Interior Liner
  • A Lifetime Warranty
  • 20 color choices including everything from Hot Pink and Lime Green to Olive Drab and Chocolate.
  • Included Divided Nylon Glide and Go Tray
  • Can be personalized and decorated with stickers and paint if you want.
  • World Class Customer Service
  • Sturdy metal handles, hinges, corners, hasp and details.

There really is just not a footlocker out there that compares to the C&N Footlockers at, they truly are amazing.  We encourage you to visit them and see what they have to offer.  Read the reviews, you'll be sold!!

Everyone who comments on this post before August 7th will receive a bonus entry to next week's Back to School Giveaway Hop where you can win an amazing Gift Certificate!

I have a material connection because I received a gift or sample of a product for consideration in preparing to write this content. I was/am not expected to return this item or gift after my review period.

Would use this as a toybox we are always in need of more storage space for toys.
Wow! I could really use one of those! It would make the perfect storage/seating area in my 12 yr olds room!
Thanks for the chance! :)

These trunks are great, especially for teens (I was terrible about throwing everything into mine when I needed to clean my room.)
I ALWAYS wanted one of those when I was a kid!! :)

Haven't ordered my daughter's college trunk yet, but will by 2nd week of August at the latest! I have looked around & these seem to be the best of all trunks around and I am very happy with their warranty claims!

Sit-upon Tutorial By Rachel Beyer

As a former Girl Scout, I have lots of fun camp memories. I remember learning to tie knots, set up camp and to cook over the campfire. An essential Girl Scout tradition is making a sit-upon. A sit-upon is a homemade waterproof cushion. They are easy to make and I remember using them every time we did any activity while sitting on the bare ground, which most often was damp or scattered with uncomfortable sticks and pebbles. A sit-upon is great for sitting around the campfire, your backyard, or even a sporting event.
There are lots of ways to make a sit-upon. When I was a Brownie Girl Scout, we made ours from old vinyl tablecloths and foam. But in a pinch, you can use a plastic garbage bag and a stack of old newspapers for padding.
To revisit this simple craft project, I decided to use a roll of vintage vinyl wallpaper I found at a thrift store and some foam I bought at my local craft store.
Essential Supplies: Waterproof Material (vinyl tablecloth, or other store-bought vinyl or plasti…

Boring Cash No More!!

Ahhhh! I just learned how to turn money into a really cool work of art!! Seriously, this is really cute and fun too. Foldin' Money can help you turn plain old cash into a really fun crafty gift! It's kind of like paper crafts with a real monetary value. Ha!

Foldin' Money has design kits to help you make the perfect gift for anyone on your list this year. Both US and Canadian currency directions are included in these design kits. For review, we received the "red" kit which has templates and step-by-step directions for a cake, tree, heart, and tie. We found the instructions to be very, very easy to follow. Ladies, I think even your husbands could fold money into the perfect gift! Did that sound rude? Sorry Fellas!

What we found really fun was the endless ways that you could possibly use the Foldin' Money designs. I thought it would be really fun to put one of those little strands of battery operated lights onto the folded money tree! What a fun gift idea and you …

#Halloween Spaghetti & Eyeballs for Sadie Hawkins {The Daily Chaos 10/14/2011}

This post must be written lightening fast because I must leave soon to pick up my daughter from the high school's Sadie Hawkins dance and ferry her and her date to their next destination. How's that for a long, stressful run-on sentence full of far too many prepositional phrases.

We had the distinct pain honor of hosting the dance dinner for 19 teenagers tonight. I don't know about you but I remember Sadie Hawkins as the dance where the guys always said no. Seriously, teenage boys can cut a teenage girl's confidence to shreds. Oh who am I kidding, grown men still do that. So we had dinner in the backyard complete with Halloween lights and a cauldron full of bubbling homemade root beer. My husband loves the homemade root beer and is always the dry ice master chef of the brew. At one point, he came in from outside all dejected because apparently the ladle had fallen into the cauldron and the kids had been trying to fish it out with their hands.... he didn't feel like …
